I somehow loosened the metal hook attached to elastic band that is used to tie down the tool bag. The hook fell into the abyss of the storage compartment and I have no idea where it went or how to get it out. Help, any ideas?

Perfect excuse to add one of those magnetic grabber gadgets to your tool collection.

Good thing the op only drooped it, and didn’t drop it like it was hot.

the noise will haunt the runner for ever.

Get one of those magnet-on-a-stick-telescoping-thingys and start fishing.

Nah it'll get wedged in a corner and remain held by rust. That's what happened to the broken weld nuts when I tried to remove my running boards. The bolts were liquified with a torch. The nuts rolled around in the rocker sill for a week, then never to be heard again.

Thanks all, I guess magnet is my best bet. I’ll try that.

    Update:
Got this $10 flexible magnet from harbor freight: Blindly inserted it into the abyss moved it around and pulled out the hook in first try. Very useful tool.
