Just spoke to a local dealer in south Alabama and they said that they would be selling them for 10,000 above MSRP. Anyone know any dealers who won’t price gouge?

Welcome to the forum, you should contact Toyota Corporate and let them know this dealership is gouging.

And they won’t care about it. They’ll tell you to wait or find another dealer. Although it’s not ethical but perfectly legal in capitalism.

toyota cant do anything especially in SET or GST regions. your best bet is to buy outside of those regions.

Stop paying one cent over MSRP. Also refuse to pay for any add on items. If everyone would do this they would stop this crap. We have to many idiots that will say yes to 10k over and this encourages the scum bag waste of a life car dealers.

Also refuse to ever do business with this dealer.

Unfortunately there will always be some folks willing to throw money away to have it first, or have it now. Start checking with other dealers, or plan on waiting awhile.

Quite a ways from you, but Longo in El Monte, CA never sells over msrp. They’re the biggest Toyota dealer in the nation. They probably have a huge waitlist already though.

my dealer if you put in an allocation reserve request actually gives you min 5% off msrp. if you buy off the lot its msrp.

our 23 tundra was 67k but after discount it was 63k and this was in feb-2023 while everyone was still doing markups.

lets just say greedy dealers will try to nickel and dime each customer.

smart dealers know the real money is selling by volume for the quarterly kick backs if you meet monthly/quarterly quota's that are set by each regional port. then the port gets kick backs from toyota usa for meeting sales quota's that is passed down to the dealership.

Amen. Dealers do it because SOME people will pay it. Nobody HAS to have a 2025 4Runner, so just say "No!" and move on.

I just bought a 2024 5th gen and the dealer had a $2,500 add-on for "paint protection" and stupid crap like that. I told the sales person up front that the $2,500 had to come off before I would even start the price negotiations, or else I was leaving right then. He agreed without any argument.

Part of the $2,500 was for some pin-striping (which I thought went out of style in the 1980's), and I made him agree to remove that crap. Sheesh.

YMMV, I went to one dealer that said MSRP but that included all the accessories like some $400 trunk organizer or whatnot and those added up fast. Another had a mandatory add-on package, etc.

You’ll have to hunt around a lot, deal with “everyone does this!!” and be willing to travel.

Word of mouth may be a plus but I got fed up and went used for a price that felt more fair.

Remember when Ford Lightning was going 15K over sticker? Someone paid for it and now they own a $45K truck that they are seriously upside down on. I expect a lot of suspicious fires and thefts on these happening this and next year.

You should also edit your post and add the name and address of the dealership. Call them out.

    Pricing hasn’t even announced yet.

Just look at how many Tundras are flooding the lots. Trust me, there will be plenty of inventory. Just give it time.

That’s interesting. I thought they usually offer discount on the vehicles already on the lot because they have to pay interest on the whole inventory after 40 days.

it has something to do with meeting quota's in toyota's eyes. if its already pre-sold they can get better bonus kick backs and get around paying other dealer fee's. not sure how that all works since that profit is closely guarded by a select few (read less than 1-3 people) at a dealer including the owner.

If the meet or exceed the monthly quota the manufacturer gives them often 100k bonuses per month. Thats why on the last day of the month you can get excellent deals. I “stole” many times cars on the last day and I know they actually lost money on my deal because saw the system. No sales manager will take the risk not selling a car on last day and jeopardizing the big bonus for the month. Pre-order is not a sale so that’s why it’s strange.

if you look in dealerdaily you can specify who the reserve request is for.

here is a copy of my allocation reserve request we initially put in. this was not the final request we put in, in august of 2022 we altered it since we had to convert our 22 request to a 23 tundra and the wife was getting tired of waiting at this point. our initial request was put in may of 2022, altered in aug 2022 and final delivery in feb-2023

ended up with the AQ, RB (FIO options) and dropping the R4 and 8Q (pio options)

I got a new 2023 ORP with their “off road package” so, LED lights, rock sliders, black badging, TRD Pro wheels and A/T tires, wheel locks, all weather mats, trunk tray, and other things I can’t recall now. For near $5K under MSRP of an ORP without any of that stuff. That was a killer deal for me. There was a marked up Pro for $10k over sticker that they wouldn’t deal on. It was the easiest decision in the world. I also got an insane value on the trade, where they beat CarMax by a good $1k. And in Texas, you have tax benefits on the trade. So all in all, it was great. And it was end of month so that’s that.
