Do you have more pictures with the bronze TRD wheels? I have these exact ones sitting in my garage and have been wondering how it would look with solar octane

I tried to do that but the order change wasn't accepted since the deadline passed and was slated to be built the next day

Can someone please give me some tips for finding a Solar Octane 4Runner outside of Gulf States Toyota's scope, since they use a made-up MSRP? I've looked around a little but am just not very good at this in today's market. If it matters, I'm looking for a TRD-ORP from a dealer who will sell to an out-of-state buyer. I just don't know how to find one, even one that is allocated but not there yet. Thanks

New to the forum as I just got a 2024 4R ORP in Solar Octane. First bright ass color I’ve ever had and I love it. Always had black, grey, and red vehicles. I’ve only recently seen an S.O. TRD Pro in my town so I believe I got the last ‘24 S.O. in ABQ. Really excited about owning a 4R.

Which offset did you go with?
Do have any pics to show how the wheel/tire sits in relation to the outer part of the fender?

If they don’t come with caps, what did you end up using?

Off set -10 I put caps on them from liftcustoms. I think this shows the best pic. IMG_4919.jpg

Thank you! That offset looks perfect and is not too aggressive since I’m going to run the stock size tire. Now I just have to figure out if I want stealth blue or not.

Thanks. Yeah I like they don’t stick out too far. That’s a 285/70/17 I’m running.

Like the guy a few posts up, this is the first "color" vehicle I have ever had. Always had white, black, or MGM... and honestly sometimes I feel the SO is a little too "look at me!" for my otherwise subdued tastes.

But the point of this post is that every single time I am at the gas station, or car wash, or otherwise in a public place and standing next to the truck, someone will walk by and say "that's an awesome color man". Every. Single. Time. Which is cool, I guess. I don't mind talking to people but a few times now the person has just begun a 17 minute conversation with me about cars they have owned since 1952 and those can be hard to extricate yourself from.

Any tips on nipping that shit in the bud without being rude? I still want to be a good Solar Octane ambassador.

Oh I guess I can check into this thread too now. Non PRO. Sorry, 2023 guys. 2024 ORP w/ tint, AT tires, black badging, FJ shifter knob, some minor interior mods, RCI skid coming...

Slap your pockets, appear to be alarmed, and say, “Oh crap, I forgot it!” Then explain that you gotta go.

Or you could just wet yourself.

Grab your lower abdomen and make your eyes real big like you’re fixin to shit your pants. “Oh… gotta go.” I’ve used that technique at social gatherings that I want to leave early from. Believe me, nobody will stop you or question your motives.

Also, cross your fingers for me. If all goes according to plan I’ll be posting pics of my new S.O. ORP by the first week in May. I’m 90% sure it’s a done deal.

I LOVE bright unique colors on my cars…..yet I don’t like the everyday attention it attracts.

I like chatting with people (especially enthusiasts) but am often in a rush during the work week and don’t want every transitional space to invite a long car discussion. This happens more so with my other car but the bright orange 4Runner sometimes gets that attention too.

Also, outside of the quick interaction, I typically don’t enjoy talking cars with non-enthusiasts. Alot of people look at cars as status symbols and will only engage on the topic as a means to either try to impress you about their car, find out what yours is/costs, what you do for a living, etc. No thanks.

Few things that seem to reduce this attention:

    1) Dark tinted windows. Must symbolize sketchyness but notice people are more hesitant to approach after I get them tinted, even if I’m not in the vehicle.

    2) When not at work, I wear alot of hoodies. Not to purposely repel people, more for comfort, but it does seem to reduce interactions with the hoodie up.

    3) Politely accept any compliments with little follow up. Most people will understand that you need to move on, ones that don’t pick up on social cues usually get it as I smile and start walking away lol.

With all that said, I don’t think the goal is to become anti-social like these Gen Zers, bury our faces in these tech crack phones, and actively avoid people in real life.

But I also don’t buy cars to show off and constantly drawing that attention at routine places can get annoying. Unlike a forum, where you can choose when to sign on and talk about car stuff. Never owned a supercar but can’t imagine how old that attention gets after a while if you’re not some narcissistic attention seeker.

No offense to people who have to use an ElectroLarynx, but buy a fake one, and whenever someone you don't want to talk to strikes up a convo, pull out your fake one, hold it on your neck, and start talking in your machine voice. Might take a little practice.

Anyway, they'll bear with you for like a minute and a half, but you'll never be at the gas pump for 17 minutes again.

I was tongue in cheek with my above post, but your response actually made some great points and I found myself nodding along.

One of the things that's always been maddening to me is when people engage you but it's clearly only to segue into a brag about their stuff - which of course isn't there with them but it's "at home" or they "used to own it". My other car is a motorcycle, so that squidly element is always coming over trying to chat it up. Most of the time they fuck up technical details in the first 5 seconds, or make an outlandish performance or skill set claim, so it's easy to identify all subsequent statements as utter bullshit.

I always wonder what their end game is. To feel better about themselves by lying to a stranger? Dafuq.

And yeah, tint is a gamechanger for getting people to leave you the fuck alone. Made the appointment the day I bought the truck...

So to summarize all the above:

    -hoodies
    -tint
    -don't engage
    -avoid eye contact
    -be politely concise
-claim anal bifida... or one of the bifidas
    -self install a stoma

Luckily, the 4Runner doesn’t draw tons of unwanted attention. My huskies that hang out of the windows draw a lot more attention.

Not an exotic super car, but when I owned my MKIV Supra, the attention it drew was nauseating. People would follow me home to ask questions and if they could have a picture taken with the car. It was so bad, that I actually stopped driving it. The last 2 years that I owned it, I only put about 500 miles on it in total. But boy, I sure do miss driving that amazing machine.
