Don’t get one of the first ones. You’re going to spend so much time at the dealership not only fixing issues, but issues that not even Toyota knows of yet. Trust and believe they’ll make enough of them for everyone who wants one.

meh, most of it will be resolved during production line changes learned from the tacoma build since they are practically the same vehicle

You’ll be surprised. You’re underestimating first model year problems. It’s as bad as it sounds.

never had any major issues on our 2016 tacoma or our 23 tundra.

minor nit picks on the 2016 tacoma,
    1. slight head wind would cause the trans to shift out of 6th gear constantly, (tsb fixed this)
    2. took about 6 months to trans to learn how we drove

minor nit picks on the 2023 tundra
    1. fuel gauge randomly resets to full (tsb fixes the 22's but no tsb for 23, 24 have a new dual tank sending unit to resolve this) (also resets to full more likely to happen if you face the front uphill compared to front downhill)
    2. gate handle too tight, rubs slightly on paint

we tried to get a 22 but we had a long wait for getting our specific platinum tundra

1st year issues are a lot lower on a toyota than most domestic brands. i am not saying they dont have any just less. but my risk aversion is a lot lower than yours so i am good. each person has a threshold, your just happens to be higher than mine.

    its all good

Yeah to me if I can’t buy it and drive it and have to keep dealing with issues. It’s no good. My 2022 Miata is perfect. 2023 4Runner is perfect. Thousands of miles and not a trip to the dealer.

    i probably trigger your ocd

    1. 2016 tacoma was ordered and bought sight unseen (didnt even test drive one before choosing)
    2. 2018 tundra did the same thing
    3. 2023 tundra did the same thing

    forgot to add

2014 4runner did the same thing and my 2004 4runner was shipped from SD

i did do walk arounds before driving off for any odd issues but didnt see any.

I try not to buy Version 1.0 of anything, including vehicles. But then I've never felt the need to have the absolute newest shiny toy. Especially when my current shiny toy works just fine.

Kinda like people standing in line for hours to buy the newest iPhone or game system. Why? They could wait a week or two and walk in and buy it without the wait. I don't get it. But then I'm old and grew up before the "instant gratification" mindset became a thing.

I will never understand the burning desire to be the first on the block with a new model.

You will pay more than if you waited a year or so for the demand to cool off a bit. You are likely to get an inferior product than if you waited a year or so for the bugs to get worked out.

So why the hell does anyone want to pay more to get less???? It makes no sense!!!

I would wait. No need (well unless you're walking) to get "one of the first" off the production line.

Jeep did this when the 2003 Wrangler Rubicon came out. 36k dollars for a Jeep. I laughed at them and said "shit, I'll wait a few years and buy one at half off and built all ready." They said good luck.
    4 years later...12,500.00

Same with my next tow rig. I would like a GMC 2500HD AT4x but when they first came out at 110k. Now not even two years later I see them at 85-89k.
