It had a good run of almost 4 decades. It's over.

5th and 3rd gen were the nicest looking 4runners in my opinion

Too many mods and too much money
I think all 5 generations bring a little style to the party, with the right mods. Hopefully the 6th gen will be the same.KOH T4R.jpg

I’m on the fence on the exterior looks. Seems like it trying to hard to be tough and cool. Maybe a TRD Off-road will look better. The back seat leg space looks much smaller in the one video I watched so far. That will be terrible if true.

I think it looks pretty good but I wouldn't trade my 2023 for one. There is less cargo area due to the hybrid battery and I don't want that added complexity either. It looks like they did some things right with (time will tell) with the suspension choices though.

I don't care for the tech/accoutrements. It pretty much solidifies why I got my Gen 5, but I'm sure this will be exactly what many people want. I am very much looking forward to seeing them in the wild and what people will do with them.

Too sculpted, looks muscular. Everything else is Tacoma. LC is where it’s at now.

Same. I really like the way the back looks. I think with time I could learn to like the front. I like that you get a factory "viper-cut" for clearance of the front wheels from factory. However, the silhouette from the side makes no sense to me. The acute slope of the windshield doesn't match the upright rear hatch.

Thank you for posting this video. I like TFL channel and just watched their TRD PRo video after.

First impressions after watching the videos:

    Early Impression PROS:

    1. I like that the towing went up an extra 1,000 lbs which I think has always been necessary. Not everyone wants to own a truck (With 5 in my family, a 3700lb dry trailer and 5000 max towing would be barely adequate for safety - accounting for trailer load and passengers + gear in the car and still dry tanks)
    2. Offering an iForce max hybrid could also be beneficial when towing a small camper. The extra electric boost off the line could work when hauling loads.
    3. Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. (I love my Red Arc trailer brake controller in my other tow vehicle, however having one built in gets rid of the headache of tearing out interior panels and routing lines. What a pain in the azz.)
    4. Rigid Industries trail lighting that's switchable possibly from Amber to white depending on conditions
    5. High Clearance Angled Rock rails protecting the cab
    6. Power Lift gate
    7. Integrated Compressor - (How about a small integrated Shop Vacc? For crap that gets inside. No one ever thinks of that. Heck maybe they could partner with Shop Vacc or Dyson and offer something different for an expanded business opportunity)
    8. Extra Aux switches - To keep everyone's love of gadgets and lights appeased.
    9. Rear hatch window still rolls down !!
    :drunk:

    Early Impression CONS:

    1. Electric 2H 4H 4L switching. (I liked my 2023's old school mechanical linkage. I feel it's less prone to an actuator or some switch breaking and not fully engaging when I want it in 4WD *See TFLs Broken next gen Tacoma video for reference.* Their ADD or Toyota Auto disconnecting differential failed. Telling me it either probably wasn't fully engaged or stayed engaged at a crucial moment. Possibly a weaker component. Apply K.I.S.S. and move on *Keep It Simple Stupid*)
    2. Flat infotainment panel sitting above the dash line. (I never liked this feature when Audi first put it in. Keep the panel integrated within the dash for gods sake. I don't want something sticking up above my dash line sitting in the sun. You could make a dash bump out or his and hers side but hide the infotainment panel below the dash line) :(
    3. Rear seat leg room maybe? (I know one of the commenters is taller like me however it looks like they lost legroom slightly in the rear seat. This could also be a marketing ploy to shrink the 4 runner interior slightly so folks would move to the new Land Cruiser for comfort)
    4. Back-end and exhaust looks wide and low still. (If it's a dedicated 4x4 try angling the back end slightly higher then the cab line for departure angles. No one wants to rip a rear bumper off for those first time 4 wheel driving. *See concept photo below for new VW Scout*)
    5. Wheel well's still look squared off and small front to rear. (People shouldn't need to Frankenstein body chop their panels to make options bigger than 265's fit well. Give someone plenty of room off the show room floor for further options down the road)
    6. More to come when it comes out I'm sure. . . (Just fix the 360 and rear cameras to more High Def Geez. I felt I went back in time with how terrible the 2023 backup camera was.)

Still not terribly disappointing. I could maybe own one. I am curious how the new Land Cruiser and upcoming VW Scout will stack up. Fingers Crossed ! !

    :spending:
